In this visual world in which we live, I knew that a simple, scrawled note detailing walking directions to our studio just wouldn't cut it. Rather, Mouse-over the highlighted text for a visual aid. We'll begin our short journey on Florence's fabled Ponte Vecchio (The Old Bridge) which is universally known and located just minutes from Beaded Lily Glass Works. If you move along, our walk will be less than 10 minutes. To get your bearings for our trip, stand in the center of the bridge. The highest point of the dome of the cathedral will be at your back, a bust of Benvenuto Cellini will be on your right and on your left, a series of arches. As you walk towards the end of the bridge, you'll see Baccus on your right and a neon sign overhead that reads Pitti Palace Hotel. Walk under the hotel sign and cross at the crosswalk. Go straight ahead up the main road which is, if all went well, Via Guicciardini. |

If you look to your left, across the street, you should see Piazza Santa Felicita and a permanent street sign indicating that you are not, despite your misgivings, lost. Walk ahead just a block or so to the first right-hand turn you come to, which should be Via Dello Sprone - Turn right. We are so very close! Go a short block or so and take your first proper left. It will be just as you are entering a small piazza. There is a restaurant with an outdoor seating area just as you turn. OK, just ahead there, on your left: We've arrived! Look for the fountains of colored glass rods! Welcome!! |
